43 jim beam black is a premium bourbon with a more flavorful character made to be sipped and savored. Beam s namesake bourbons have always come up short for me. Our premium 86 proof extra aged bourbon ages years longer in white oak barrels than original jim beam. It s those extra years of aging that give jim beam black its full bodied flavor with smooth caramel and warm oak notes.

Overall jim beam black is just a really good everyday bourbon but it s not a sit at home and slowly savor it kind of bourbon. I prefer the black label too. As i mentioned before this is an easy drinking bourbon and would be appropriate as an inexpensive go to for cocktails or mixers.

They re overly simple and lack any of the richness found in beam s higher tier bourbons. A have a glass or two while grilling and watching the fights kind of bourbon. Extra aged certainly offers a fuller flavor compared to jim beam white but it is still miles away from knob creek the least expensive of beam s small batch bourbons. This gives it a more mellow and complex taste.
